Annual Fund

Mark A. Neubert Memorial Endowment Fund

We can't predict what challenges coming generations of students will face, but we can prepare for their future now. In the summer of 2009, God called home one of His faithful servants, Mark Neubert. Mark was an alumnus of St. Luke School and a lifelong supporter of the school's ministry. A school endowment fund, a fund whose purpose is to help offset the cost of the school and to allow for school improvements, has been named in Mark's memory. The Mark A. Neubert Memorial Endowment Fund will help to ensure that future generations will share the same benefits and learn the same timeless lessons taught at St. Luke Lutheran School for 145 years.

We ask that you prayerfully consider joining us in our journey of educating young minds and hearts by contributing to the Mark A. Neubert Memorial Endowment Fund. Help us equip future generations to face an uncertain future here on earth and to learn of their eternal future through our Savior, Jesus Christ.

If you would like to help offset the cost of the school and further develop its mission and ministry, please send your donation to St. Luke Lutheran School and mark it "Mark A. Neubert Memorial Endowment Fund" or donate online here

Plant-A-Seed Endowment Fund.

Help a young mind to sprout and grow in God's love and wisdom. St. Luke Lutheran School educates the entire child in the light of God's Word. Our children grow through worship and in God's Word. Like a seed grows, help a young mind to grow in God's Grace.

Philosophy of Plant-A-Seed Fund

This fund is dedicated to helping families who wish to send their children to St. Luke Lutheran School but cannot afford the tuition. This allows all families the opportunity for a Christian education, and does not limit it to only those with the ability to pay.

The fund's purpose is to make sure that none of God's little lambs are ever prevented from attending St. Luke Lutheran School for lack of funds.

Donations received for the Plant-A-Seed Fund can go into the endowment fund where only the interest is used or gifts may be applied directly to deserving families as designated by the donor. "The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. It is the smallest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and perch in its branches" (Matthew 13:31,32).

Remembering Willis F. Follstaedt

Willis F. Follstaedt was born September 15, 1924, to Oscar and Louise Follstaedt. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Luke Lutheran Church and attended her day school for eight years. Willis lived on a farm with his parents and two sisters, Helen and Louise. The farm was about a mile and a half from school and Willis and his sisters walked to school most days.

Willis then went on to attend Butler High School, graduating in June 1942. In the midst of the second World War, Willis entered the Army in August 1943. He was sent to Europe as a rifle-man in March 1944. On a beach in Normandy, willis F. Follstaedt was killed in action on June 12, 1944, at the age of 19. He is buried in the U.S. Military Cemetery in St. Laurent, France. Willis is the only member of St. Luke Lutheran Church to give his life in service of his country during World War II.

Willis Follstaedt is remembered by his family and friends as a Christian person, who was respectful of and devoted to his family, friends, church and school. It is fitting that Willis should be memorialized through a scholarship fund, as he is an inspiration for today's young people as they seek their way in the Lord.

The Willis F. Follstaedt Memorial Scholarship was established by his childhood friend, Vernon Neubert. In his account of remembering Willis Follstaedt, Vernon wrote of many fond memories of the times he and Willis spent together and the fine example that Willis set. Dr. Neubert expressed his appreciation for the find Christian education he received at St. Luke Christian day school and he also expressed an interest in being able to assist other worthy students, as his own education had been aided through scholarships such as this one. Dr. Neubert retired from Penn State University where he was a professor of engineering.
